Seigaiha Tenugui Style Hand Towel | Japanese Wave Pattern
Seigaiha (青海波, "waves of the blue sea") is one of Japan's oldest wave patterns. The overlapping arcs of water stand for calm seas that go on forever, a wish for a peaceful life that keeps going, quietly and steadily.
We drew it in indigo and unbleached white and added a tall name panel, the way a shop's tenugui towel carries its name. The panel reads 青海波 (seigaiha) in vertical kanji, with our original crest, a circle of seigaiha waves. The crest is a Mojinami mark, not a family crest.
This is a tenugui inspired hand towel, not a traditional dyed tenugui.
