Katsushika Hokusai's Great Wave, from Thirty six Views of Mount Fuji (ca. 1830 to 1832). The original Japanese title, 神奈川沖浪裏 (Kanagawa oki nami ura), means "beneath the wave off Kanagawa"; look closely and you will find Mount Fuji, small and calm, inside the curve of the wave. The vertical text on the right is that title and the artist's name, 葛飾北斎 (Katsushika Hokusai).
Image source: Under the Wave off Kanagawa (Kanagawa oki nami ura), Katsushika Hokusai, The Metropolitan Museum of Art, Open Access, public domain (metmuseum.org/art/collection/search/45434). Mojinami is not affiliated with or endorsed by The Met.
We set the public domain image on a warm paper colour with the Japanese title in vertical type and a small vermilion seal with our original crest. This is a modern print of a public domain image, not an original woodblock print.
